SLF – Blair Scholarship
This scholarship combines the funds of the Homer Student Loan Fund (SLF) and the Blair Scholarship Fund. Homer's superintendent, Everett Highland, started the Student Loan Fund in 1959, to provide loans to Homer High School graduates to help them further their education. The Blair Scholarship was started in 1977 with funds from the estate of Bess Blair as donated by her sister Maude. Both sisters were born in Homer and were descendents of Homer's first doctor. Bess taught in the Homer school system. Maude was a life-long educator, and both sisters were strong supporters of education.
This scholarship is approximately $1,000 yearly and is potentially renewable upon meeting certain requirements for three years.
